The National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) announced in August 2010 that Chongqing had been selected, alongside seven other Chinese cities, to take part in a pilot program aimed at reducing its carbon emissions (low carbon pilot city). The “Chongqing Five” campaign launched by Bo Xilai aims to speed up the municipality’s development. It is focused on five key aspects: Forest Chongqing (gardens and parks), Smooth Chongqing (better circulation), Safe Chongqing, Healthy Chongqing and Liveable Chongqing.
There are over 1,000 local eco-enterprises and several concrete projects are in the process of implementation, for which French expertise is required.
A delegation from Chongqing, led by the Chinese Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) came to Paris on 5 May this year in order to present the opportunities of its market and the expectations of the decision-makers, private and public, in terms of French expertise in all areas of sustainable development.
